Challenges I Can Help You With

  • Room for growth. After a few years of being blended, hopefully the family will grow and members will choose to spend more time together and feel closer to one another.

  • Anxiety: Anxiety can be normal in stressful situations like public speaking or going for a job interview. Anxiety is only an indicator of underlying disease when feelings become excessive, all-consuming, and interfere with daily living.

  • Depression: Depression is a mood disorder that causes a persistent feeling of sadness and loss of interest. It can affect how you feel, think, and behave and can sometimes lead to a variety of emotional and physical problems. More than just “the blues”, depression isn't a weakness and you can't simply "snap out" of it. While depression may require long-term treatment, most people with depression feel better with medication, psychotherapy or both.

  • Grief: Most people will experience loss at some point in their lives. Grief is a reaction to any form of loss and bereavement is a type of grief involving the death of a loved one. They both can include a range of feelings from deep sadness to anger. I can help you recognize and move through the stages and feelings that are unique to you.

  • Couples Work: I can help you work to strengthen connection and meaning together and heal past wounds.

  • Life Transitions: Marriage, divorce, a new job or baby, or a shift in life perspective can often mean speed bumps in other areas of your life. Helping you look at the many aspects of a life transition can offer you more growth and healing along the way.

  • Family of Origin Work: The people we grow up with strongly influence who we become. Awareness of these influences will help you not to repeat negative patterns modeled during the growing years. Explore how your family of origin has created your current beliefs and, if needed, learn to overcome or re-frame them.

  • Adoption: Fostering and adopting can be an amazing way to start a family. I can help you explore your feelings and emotions around these options as well as help you and your family with adoption issues that come up throughout your child’s life.

  • Healthy Parenting: Staying connected with your children while fostering independence, respect, empathy, and compassion takes a lot of twists and turns. I can help you and your child along the journey.

  • Blended Families: Blended family members may be at various life stages and have different needs (teens versus toddlers, for example). They may also be at different stages in accepting the new family dynamics. I can help your family learn to honor and understand those differences.

What You Can Expect

I work with adults and couples. We'll work together to explore your strengths and use them to create the life you want. I can help you deepen your relationships, stay connected to your kids, heal emotional wounds, live with less fear and more confidence, and realize your potential for happiness.

I listen to you and your goals. Honoring your needs, helping you become more clear about what those needs are, and how to get your needs met throughout your session–and in your life–drives our work together. Expanding self-awareness leads to more conscious decision-making, clarity and confidence. That’s what I’m here to help you with.
